A medical certificate for work is an official document that confirms your medical fitness to perform a specific job. On the certificate, an occupational medicine specialist marks a specific category, explaining whether you are fit to work and under what conditions.

The markings on the medical certificate are:

  1. Meets the specific health requirements for the specified position

This means that your health status does not limit you from performing your work duties in a particular job. You are capable of performing the specific job without any restrictions.

  1. Meets the specific health requirements for the specified position with the following restrictions

In this case, you can work, but there are certain restrictions (e.g. adjusting working conditions or avoiding certain loads) that are determined by the occupational physician. The employer is not obliged to disclose the reasons for the following decision.

  1. Temporarily does not meet the specific health requirements for the specified job

This designation means that you are currently unable to perform work in this position due to health reasons. The employer is not entitled to disclose the reason for this assessment. It is expected that the reason for giving this opinion can be eliminated (e.g. the subject recovers ...). In the event of a change in health status, the work ability may change upon reassessment.

  1. Permanently fails to meet the specific health requirements for the specified job

The doctor makes this assessment when he or she determines that the individual's medical condition constitutes a contraindication to performing a specific job and cannot be eliminated or improved by additional measures. The employer is not excused until the reasons for the following decision are disclosed.

  1. Proposed second job

If the occupational physician determines that the employee is unable to perform his/her current job due to health limitations, but is capable of performing work in another, more suitable job, he/she shall make the aforementioned assessment. In such a case, the physician shall include in the certificate a recommendation for reassignment to another job that better suits the employee's health condition. This allows the employer to take appropriate measures, such as adjusting work tasks or reassignment, thereby maintaining the employee's work capacity and safety.

  1. We cannot provide an assessment of compliance with specific health requirements for the specified position.

The latter means that the doctor cannot definitively assess whether the worker meets the health requirements for a particular job due to a lack of key information. The reasons may be that there is no safety statement with a risk assessment, the person has not completed all examinations and tests, or the treatment has not yet been completed.
